A group of 24 adults spent the last 5 weeks at Hove Lagoon learning to sail and completing their RYA L1 Sailing qualification in partnership with the Active and Healthy Workplace Initiative.
The course was a joint funded venture between Lagoon Watersports and the 'Active and Healthy Workplace Initiative'. It was one of the most popular courses the Lagoon have ever put on selling out days after the initial email promotion. The participants went from being total beginners to being able to sail a boat competently on their own picking up loads of really useful skills along the way.
Mark Saul, Manager of Hove Lagoon, commented 'We were overwhelmed by the popularity of this course! It has been a huge success and its a great opportunity for us at the Lagoon to give something back to the local business community. We feel there is a real demand for something a bit different to try and get adults active and sailing seems to be perfect! You dont have to be an athlete to sail a boat and when we push beginners out for the first time they are always on a completely level playing field.'
